A Pastor with RCCG Suspended Over Pasuma’s Invitation And Crusade Cancelled

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) under the leadership of daddy Enoch Adeboye, has cancelled a three-day outdoor crusade of one of its parishes through its provincial headquarters on Lagos Island...

This follows the criticisms that greeted the invitation of Fuji musician, Wasiu Pasuma as a guest artiste in the afore-mentioned crusade of one of the parishes. Pasuma’s picture appeared on the flyer alongside the popular gospel artiste, Tope Alabi and a former band leader of the late Fela Anikulapo’s Egypt 80 band, Kereke Jike.
The idea to bring Pasuma as a guest artiste was deemed ill-conceived by the church headquarters and therefore has suspended the pastor of the parish and the organizing committee for the event and they are now awaiting sanctions for dragging the name of the church into the mud.
I think churches should desist from bringing secular artistes to the church as the music ministry is a veritable instrument of evangelism. When the wrong steps are taken, it impacts wrongly on the kingdom and evangelism. For God sake, there are many talented and influential gospel artistes around whose lifestyles also glorify God. How can we help their ministry and grow God’s kingdom if we continue to appreciate secular musicians over these ones. Only recently a church invited Korede Bello, the God-Win crooner, as a guest artiste in their church. Churches should know that just like pastors, these artistes are models to the people. So their lifestyles and music should portray Christ and the kingdom of God. I also commend the RCCG headquarters for taking the steps they took over the planned crusade.
