Starting this month and continuing till December 20th, Jehovah’s Witnesses every weekend will be featuring resources that will assist families throughout Nigeria to be stronger and more united. This is a focus of their 2015 three-day annual regional convention with the theme “Imitate Jesus!”
Currently going on around the globe, the series of 259 conventions scheduled to hold at 29 locations in Nigeria will begin on Friday August 28. It will be presented in 17 Nigerian languages in addition to English, French and American Sign Language. The programme is scheduled to begin 8:20 am. each day.
According to the statement made available to the press by the spokesman of Jehovah’s Witnesses Convention for Lagos and Ogun states, Mr. Ademola Adeagbo, all is now set for the commencement of the three-day spiritually enlightening convention in four different locations in the states.
“Jesus, the founder of Christianity, is widely considered as one of the most influential and significant men who ever lived. As Christians, a core belief of Jehovah’s Witnesses is that Jesus lived his life as a model for us to follow. The ‘Imitate Jesus!’ convention will examine Jesus’ life, as outlined in the Bible, and emphasize how all—regardless of their background, lifestyle, or religion—can benefit in practical ways from his example and teachings. A highlight of the programme will be the keynote address on Friday morning, entitled ‘Concealed in Him Are All the Treasures of Wisdom,’” Adeagbo said.
Jehovah’s Witnesses from more than 1000 congregations around Lagos and Ogun states are already extending printed personal invitations to everyone in their neighbourhood.
The convention will begin in the southwest during the weekend of September 4-6 at Jehovah’s Witnesses assembly halls located at Ibereko Village, Badagry, Lagos and along Idi-Iroko Road, Ota, in Ogun State. Other locations hosting the convention in Lagos and Ogun states are Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at Daluwon, along Mowe-Ofada Road, Ogun State and the one at Ajibona Village, Lekki, Lagos.
Adeagbo also said the convention will accomplish its purpose by means of series of talks, interviews, re-enactment, demonstrations, a two-part play highlighting Jesus appointment as Lord and King to be presented on Friday and Sunday and baptism of new members.
The statement added, “There is no admission fee. Conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses are supported entirely by voluntary donations.”
